Law of Code

Understand the legal layer of emerging tech.

Stay at the cutting edge of the legal profession and emerging tech. One email each week with five bullets. That's it.

The podcast.

Deep-dive explainers and interviews with the people shaping the legal and regulatory landscape of emerging technology. One lawyer told me a firm could charge $60,000 for one of the podcast episodes if it were a legal memo. Another sent it to every employee at their startup.

Long-form explainers.

Read-along articles built from the podcast — every episode turned into a structured, skimmable explainer with the audio inline. Plain-English breakdowns of the legal questions emerging tech keeps creating.

Nearly six years. Thousands of hours. One goal.

I started the Law of Code podcast in law school because I needed an excuse to talk to lawyers about an emerging technology I was interested in: Bitcoin. Since then I've spoken with hundreds of lawyers, regulators and builders about emerging technology and the law.

After graduating I began articling at a major Canadian firm where I worked on what was at the time the largest crypto M&A transaction in Canadian history. While articling I was poached — which doesn't usually happen to someone with technically zero years of practice — to join one of Canada's top firms. In my first months as a first-year associate I helped land a client with a market cap of over a billion dollars and assisted major crypto exchanges in navigating the Canadian legal landscape. I kept the podcast going the whole time.

Six months into my legal career a tumor started growing around my heart. I didn't know it. I kept getting sicker for nearly two years before anyone found it. Then came chemo and radiation. I was 29.

That stretch gave me a new perspective on what I wanted to spend my time on. Not long after I finished radiation I realized the Law of Code podcast was what I truly loved doing — and that I wanted to build it into a career helping lawyers and operators understand the legal layer of emerging tech. I have been tumor free since the fall of 2025.

In April 2026 I decided to make Law of Code the best legal podcast in the world. Today it is the world's No. 1 legal tech podcast (if you disagree, tell me why and I'll improve it), with thousands of lawyers, regulators and builders listening. The plan from here is to keep going wider — into every major legal vertical — without ever giving up the depth.
